iOS 16 Widgets + Press & Hold Quick Menu

With iOS 16, iPhone users can now place a TripLog widget on their Home Screen, giving you quick access to essential information, such as the trip category, trip length in miles and time, and addresses. You can also start and stop a trip with a dedicated button.

This new widget is available in two sizes, with the larger size offering a trip classification button, as well as the ability to see the addresses of your most recent starting location and destination.

To use the new TripLog widgets, simply press and hold in an open spot of your Home Screen until the plus sign appears in the top left. Click it, and then search for or find TripLog from the app list. You can then choose the size of the widget you want, and then arrange your widgets and apps as you see fit.

With this same update, we added a quick menu when you press and hold the TripLog app icon. From there, you can also start a trip, as well as scan a receipt or clock in and out. To use these new features, make sure you are using the most recent TripLog update and that your phone has been updated to iOS 16.

Smart Scan Expense Receipts With OCR Text Recognition

TripLog has expanded its OCR (optical character recognition) capabilities! Where the app’s OCR features were previously limited to gas and fuel receipts, drivers can now scan virtually any receipt and TripLog will automatically grab and fill in the necessary details.

Simply go to the “Transactions” tab on the TripLog app and hit the plus button. Press “Auto Scan Expense Receipt” and you will be given the option to take a photo or upload an image of a receipt. Once your photo is cropped the way you want it, hit done, and TripLog will automatically scan your receipt and extract the necessary information.

When that’s done, hit “Save”. In the final screen, you can add more details, such as location, tags, and tax information, as well as set the appropriate expense category and activity type.

In order to use the new OCR function, be sure your app is updated to the most recent version.

Add a Phone Number to Saved Locations

With our most recent update, TripLog has introduced the ability to add phone numbers to saved locations! Whether adding a new location or updating an old one, there is now a field to add a phone number.

To add a new location, swipe left on the main screen or use the hamburger menu in the top left and hit “Locations”. Then, hit “Add Location” in the top right. You can then add a phone number, and you can call it simply by tapping the phone icon. Easy as that!

To edit a previous location, go back to the “Locations” screen and tap the location you want to add a phone number to and hit “Edit”. This can also be done on the main trips menu by tapping a name or location and then clicking the three dots on a name or location and then hitting “Adjust details”. You can also make a call from that three dot menu.

TripLog Drive™ New Tracking Mode - Record Offline and Download Later

Introducing a new dedicated Offline Tracking Mode for TripLog Drive™. Now you can let the GPS Drive™ device record location data on its flash storage and at a later time, download to the mobile app. More secure, more privacy, detached from the mobile phone, so the TripLog app is not required to grant location permissions or stay alive in the background.

To turn on this option, open TripLog app > main menu > Auto start settings > Tracking Mode > select "Record offline and download later". Once you are ready to download the data, go to TripLog app main screen > the green Start button > Download > follow the instruction.

Note, it takes about 1 minute to download 1 hour of driving records. So don’t wait too long to download. We recommend no more than one week.

Schedule business week & hours in multiple time slots

Now you can set up your weekday and work hours more flexibly in multiple segments. This is to accommodate people with different schedules on different days, or carve out their lunch hours. You can access the settings from app > main menu > Auto start settings.

PS. We also added a feature to observe National Holidays as after hours. You can turn it on at “Classify Holidays” setting.

Outlook and Google Calendar Integration

With TripLog’s new integration with Google Calendar and Outlook Calendar, you can review your past meetings with travel records and import them into TripLog as trips.

Gig Economy Drivers auto start option

Introducing all-new "Gig Apps" auto start option, designed for Gig Economy drivers working in rideshare, grocery, food, and package delivery. Available only on Android.

When one of the selected Gig Apps is open and you start driving, the app will automatically start tracking. After you are idle for more than 5 minutes, the trip will be stopped.

Advantage: Low battery consumption. Only turns on when you are engaging with your gig work.

Redesigned manual start options & trip edit screen

The manual start screen has been redesigned to streamline the process. Users will be prompted to choose from the following 3 options after they press the green start button:

GPS Tracking. Let the app record trip mileage using phone GPS. Users can still tap the running trip to edit it after it’s started.
Manual Entry. Fill out the trip information on the next screen.
Navigation. Choose a named or previously visited location, or enter a new address to turn on turn-by-turn navigation right in the app. The app will also start GPS tracking.

You can also choose a default option and skip the popup. It’s at app > menu > General Settings > Manual Start Trip Default.

The trip edit screen has also been reorganized to simplify the data input.

Track Driving Safety

Introducing Driving Safety Tracking, a new way to monitor driving behavior that gives you concrete data and visualization, other than an ambiguous score. The app automatically detects:

Hard Brake
Rapid Acceleration
Speeding over Set Limit
Phone Calls while driving

The information can be used to improve your own driving behavior or monitor your teenagers or employees driving safety.

Caution, driving behavior detection relies heavily on the accuracy of your phone’s GPS and sensors. Therefore, it can only be used as a reference. The use of driving safety tracking in conjunction with MagicTrip will also increase battery consumption.

Pause/Resume account and payment

As part of our COVID-19 relief assistance, we are offering paying customers an option to pause the account and payment until a later date. It is available on the web dashboard > Manage > Billing > Pause Account.

Once paused, the app will be frozen and only allow very limited features. You can choose a pause period of 1, 2, or 3 months. After the pause period, the account will be auto resumed.
